Research, Legal / Para-Legal and Editorial Consultants support the development of the IADP’s quality assurance, legal, governance, and editorial framework.
This role contributes structured research, legal insight, documentation support, editorial validation, and professional standards work that strengthens the credibility of the association and the wider diving profession.
Helping build credible professional foundations
The diving industry lacks coherent, independent structures around standards, compliance, professional protection, and reliable information. This volunteer function contributes directly to building those foundations within the International Association of Dive Professionals.
The role supports internal governance, procedural clarity, ethical frameworks, quality assurance mechanisms, editorial verification, and the long-term structural resilience of the association.
What you will help with
Research and analysis
Conduct targeted research on regulations, standards, legal frameworks, and sector practices affecting dive professionals.
Policies and procedures
Support the development and review of internal policies, procedures, governance documentation, and quality assurance structures.
Legal / para-legal support
Assist with compliance-oriented research, documentation support, and material related to professional protection and accountability.
Editorial validation
Contribute to fact-checking, editorial review, and validation of professional content before publication or internal use.
Reference material
Help prepare structured reference material, summaries, and position documents supporting the association’s work.
Gap identification
Identify inconsistencies or missing structures in standards, regulations, and professional protection mechanisms.
What you bring
- Background in law, para-legal work, compliance, governance, research, policy, or editorial work
- Ability to work with structured documentation
- Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail
- Clear and precise written communication
- Comfort handling sensitive information
- Knowledge of diving standards or regulations is an advantage
